They accuse the scales calibrators of not doing their job, they accuse people of rigging the scales, etc. But the real reason is known to Charles and Charles only.

Joe Rogan, speaks about this situation recently on his podcast. He openly takes Charles Oliveira’s side and blames it all on the ‘damn scales’.
“He got screwed in his last fight. There are some shenanigans with the scale. Some people had messed with the scale. Here’s a problem with these digital scales: Foreign fighters, use kilograms and in America, obviously, we use pounds. These scales on go calibration and then the foreign fighters would reset the scale so they could switch it back to kilograms. So it fucks up the whole calibration. So he weighed in the night before the weigh-ins, and he was like, ‘Oh, I’m good to go.’ Then in the morning, he goes and shows up for the weight cut, and it’s a pound plus off, and that is directly related to this calibration thing.” – Joe Rogan says with confidence.
And it may be so. Incorrect calibration might be the problem. But whatever it is, now it doesn’t change much.
As a result of this ‘incident’ Dana White introduces securing of the scales after calibration before the fight. He will have a security guy, watching the scale day and night for the period of its calibration until the official weighing so omissions like this do not happen anymore.
