Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here, Friday Night SmackDown concluded about twenty minutes ago as of this posting. The show’s main event featured the return of the Usos as Jimmy and Jey went up against King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler. But it also saw the return of one of Corbin’s henchmen, Robert Roode!
Roode had been put out of commission on TV by Roman Reigns, with a violent attack that ended with him burying him under the commentary table. In reality this was a cover for Roode’s 30 day suspension. It was actually a known thing ahead of the show that the suspension happened to lift today. They wasted no time in bringing him back. After the main event ended in DQ with Roman spearing Corbin, Roode made his presence known to attack him and DDT him onto the floor. They all ganged up on him to put him through a table afterwards, and that’s how the show closed.
You can see my recap of this segment below:
Jey on the top rope wants a splash but Corbin stops him, posts him and throws him back into the ring! However, Reigns nails Corbin with a Spear and we finally have the DQ.
Winners: King Corbin & Dolph Ziggler (by DQ)
That’s about how you want Friday Night SmackDown to end…
Afterwards, Roman is gonna let Corbin have it but Robert Roode emerges from the crown to take him out with a Glorious DDT to the floor! This is his return after being injured by Roman Reigns in storyline. In real life he’s just coming off a suspension. Corbin with a Deep Six on one Uce, the other gets a superkick from Dolph Ziggler. Robert Roode hits a Spinebuster on Reigns onto the announce table and it does not break, that did not look like fun! Corbin and Roode hold Reigns down as Ziggler hops up onto the table for a big elbow drop, destroying it! And that’s the note that Friday Night SmackDown is closing on tonight!
