Since the start of the NXT 2.0 rebrand, it was clear that Bron Breakker was the man with the keys to the kingdom. He would quickly rise to become NXT Champion, now being already in his second reign. Breakker has also had his father Rick Steiner show up as part of a recent storyline with Joe Gacy, but fans shouldn’t expect Rick to team up with his son.
Bron Breakker Won’t Get Chance To Team With Father
While speaking with Ryan Satin on the Out Of Character Podcast, Breakker would talk about his father, and told fans to not expect him back in the ring anytime soon. Rick Steiner currently has no plans to return to the ring, as Breakker would reveal saying the following.
“No, he won’t do it. He’s just one of those people that, in his prime, he was a beast back in the day, 300 pounds and behind the neck press 365 (pounds) for sets of ten. He was nuts – he did 20 years in the business, at the top of the tag team division or singles division for pretty much the entire time.
I think he’s at peace with his career and performing. He thinks it’s good. He’s satisfied with what he was able to accomplish and just walk away and transition into other stuff. Rick’s made a big transition, he’s been on the school board for 20 years if he gets re-elected this year and he’s been doing real estate for a long time. He’s busy – he has no interest in doing it anymore.”
Rick Steiner last wrestled in 2019, teaming with Kazushi Miyamoto for TCW Tokyo Championship Wrestling to defeat the team known as the Heatseekers (Elliot Russell & Sigmon). While Rick is firmly retired, Scott Steiner is not – and Breakker wouldn’t deny that’d be interesting.
“That would be fun. I don’t know, never say never, I guess. I would love to do something with him, but I don’t know, I guess we’ll see.”
Right now, Bron Breakker is still feuding with Joe Gacy – and will defend the NXT Championship in the main event of In Your House next month.
