Recently, fans were baffled as Ric Flair would announce his plans to wrestle one final match. The legend has been training with AEW’s Jay Lethal, and has a date set for this final match. Fans however have been eager to know just why he’s having another match – and Flair would reveal this.
Ric Flair Wants To Go Out On His Own Terms
While speaking with Vickie Guerrero on her “Excuse Me” podcast, Flair would explain why
“Because I wasn’t happy with the way I went out. I wrestled because I needed the money back then because of divorce and divorce attorneys. I’m not doing it for the money now. I can always make money. I worked out hard. When I came down here, I started working out with Rob, John Cena’s trainer.
I feel better about myself now mentally and physically than I did back then, I just want to go out on my own. I kind of was pushed through in situations back then that I didn’t like to be in. But once again, when you need the money, it’s a whole different world then when you don’t. So this is on my terms.”

As for who will be involved in this final match, Flair would say that four people will be in the mix. FTR & Rock ‘n Roll Express will be involved – indicating this will be a six man tag team match. This will allow Flair to just hit some signature spots, keeping him safe throughout.
There has been rumours that Hulk Hogan will be the final man in this match, potentially making this the retirement match of the two biggest stars in American wrestling history. Ricky Steamboat was also contacted, but refused to be part of this event.
