Frank Warren, Tommy Fury’s promoter remains open to a fight against Jake Paul. However, will things get any closer for a potential fight to happen? For now, things aren’t looking very good. It seems like Tommy Fury missed his chance to fight the rising star.
The duo was about to meet in the ring last year. However, before the bout, Tommy suffered a broken rib injury. This results in a fight cancellation.
Tommy Fury’s Promoter Still Open To Arrange A Jake Paul Fight
“I suffered it in a sparring session and I had to get an MRI straight after training. The doctor said as soon as I got out that it doesn’t take a genius to work out that you’ve got a broken rib here.” – Tommy says with disappointment.
For those that don’t know, Tommy Fury is the brother of the undisputed Tyson Fury who had his last title defense back in April. Now, with Tyson in retirement, Tommy is set to walk in his brother’s footsteps, and become a star in heavyweight boxing as well.
After healing, Tommy Fury is ready to fight again and already had his first win, over Daniel Bocianski.
For TheMirror, Frank Warren says that Tommy Fury is eager to get back to the ring as soon as possible. Moreover, the very thought of fighting the Youtuber, makes him impatient to get back in the ring and put an end to Jake Paul’s winning streak.
“We have got a couple of things we are working on at the moment. We have got to announce something soon because he has itchy feet. Fury wants to get out there he wants to be out in the next few months so we will work something out.” – Warren says and adds – “”I still want to do the fight with Jake and I would still like to get that on. It is still realistic from our end but who knows from their end, but of course, we would like to see that happen. There were a few discussions initially but we will see what happens.”
But the idea of a fight is not met with the same enthusiasm from the other side as well.
Jake Paul confirms that he will be back in the ring on August the 13th. However, he doesn’t mention who will be his opponent. Chances are that he will fight one of the other given options, such as Anderson Silva, or Mike Tyson.
There is bad blood between Jake Paul and Fury already. Paul claims that he lost millions of dollars due to Fury’s cancellation in the eyes of the event. However, will this fuel the desire to go and arrange the fight? Or on the contrary, will make him want to force Tommy to wait?
We will most probably witness what will happen in the next period.
