There is no rest for any champion in WWE not named Brock Lesnar. WALTER successfully defended his championship against Gallus leader Joe Coffey at NXT UK Takeover Blackpool II. Following that match, he had NXT Champion Adam Cole and the rest of Undisputed Era beat him down as we build towards World Collide. While that his next challenge, it won’t be for his NXT UK Championship. NXT Taping spoilers reveal that his next challenger could be ‘Bomber’ Dave Mastiff.
Dave Mastiff Is A Worthy Contender For WALTER
Mastiff is one of the most imposing figures in all of wrestling. At 5’10 and 315 pounds, he is built like a small tank. He has frightening agility for a man his size, and surprising technical ability. Combine this with his strength and never say die attitude, and it was always clear that the man from the Black Country would be a contender at some point for WALTER.
Pete Dunne, Joe Coffey, and Tyler Bate have all failed to defeat WALTER in championship matches, but none matched WALTERs size like Mastiff is able to. It will be a different type of challenge for WALTER, but one he will be ready for.
The Set Up For The Feud
At the NXT UK tapings, Imperium members Alexander Wolfe, Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel defeated Dave Mastiff, Flash Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews in a fantastic six man tag match. During the match, WALTER tried to come down and interrupt the match, only to be stopped by Dave Mastiff. This garnered a huge pop from the crowd, who was strongly behind Mastiff during the entire night, with him getting the biggest reactions from the tapings.
The fans are behind him, he has the skills, and WALTER needs an opponent. They could build this match for the next major Takeover event, be it the NXT Takeover before Wrestlemania or the next NXT UK Takeover, it deserves a big stage. It seems more likely they will do it on NXT UK TV, but no matter where it happens? It should be absolutely fantastic. A real treat for fans of seeing two big men go to war.
