Earlier this year, following his defeat at the hands of the debutting Fiend, Finn Balor would vanish from WWE programming, only to show up in NXT once again. The longest reigning NXT Champion in history got a heroes welcome, until he turned heel at the expense of Johnny Gargano. They are set to lock up next month at NXT Takeover Portland, but is there another stop on the way for Finn Balor?
Finn Balor Will Be In Town For Worlds Collide
On the night before the Royal Rumble, Finn Balor will represent NXT as he faces off with NXT UK’s ‘Mad Russian’, Ilja Dragunov. This is sure to be a show stealer of a match, and one that will possibly be in the Match of The Year discussion. He might be a bit of a bastard these days, but he loves NXT. It is a brand he helped build, and is simply frustrated at what it has become. He will do his best to show NXT is still number one at Worlds Collide, and with him being in town for the Royal Rumble, he could do the same there.
Former Royal Rumble Iron-Man
Finn Balor has only entered the Royal Rumble once, but he holds an impressive record nonetheless. In the 2018 edition, he entered at the #2 position. He would last an astounding 57 minutes and notching 4 eliminations before being eliminated by John Cena. Making it to the final four in your first rumble despite coming in second is huge. He proved that he has the stamina to win the match, and with his refound mean streak, he could have even better odds of winning this time around.
Balor Could Rematch The Fiend
While Finn Balor is part of the NXT roster, he has unfinished business elsewhere. He was run through by The Fiend at last years Summerslam in record time. He was shocked by the new persona that Bray Wyatt put on. With The Fiend as the current Universal Champion, winning the Rumble would give Finn a chance at redemption, both in defeating The Fiend & regaining the championship he never lost.
