It has been another fantastic year for the annual tag team tournament in WWE NXT. They had a stacked field consisting of both teams from NXT & NXT UK. Undisputed Era members Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish would face Grizzled Young Veterans in the semi finals, with the other match being Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne facing Imperium members Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel.
Never Count Out The Grizzled Young Veterans
In one of the best matches of Grizzled Young Veterans from their run in WWE. Following ending the Timesplitters reunion last week, they had eyes on the finals. They would go toe to toe with Undisputed Era and show they are one of the top teams in all of tag team wrestling. It was a hard hitting and fast paced tag team match, and in the end interference from Imperium would lead to defeat for Undisputed Era. They would simply stand and watch, providing enough distraction for Grizzled Young Veterans to get the win and punch their ticket for the finals.
Throw Together Tag Teams Always Find A Way
The team of Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne is one of many in the history of this tournament to potentially go all the way. They are following in the footsteps of teams like Samoa Joe & Finn Balor, Pete Dunne & Roderick Strong, and Ricochet & Aleister Black. Balor/Joe & Ricochet/Black were able to win the tournament. Dunne/Strong would have won, but Strong would turn on his partner to join Undisputed Era and cost them the win. Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne would continue this legacy when they would defeat Imperium. It was another fantastic match for the Broserweights, who could be the favorites to win the tournament. Undisputed Era didn’t show up during the match to get revenge for Imperium costing them earlier in the show, as they focused on Roderick Strongs title defense later in the show.
Who Is Going To Win The 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic?
With Broserweights going head to head with The Grizzled Young Veterans, it could go either way. The Grizzled Young Veterans have the experience edge, but Broserweights are much harder to scout. They’ve only been in two prior tag team matches, while GYV have been in hundreds of matches. The clash will happen at Worlds Collide this Saturday (or NXT next week), so we won’t have to wait long to see who is the next winner.
