Since earlier this year, Ring of Honor has been owned by Tony Khan – the owner of All Elite Wrestling. He was in charge of their recent Supercard of Honor PPV event – taking it from a potential bomb to a sold out show. Now, while plans for ROH as a whole are coming together, Khan has announced the date and time of the next ROH PPV.
The Groundwork Is Already In Place For The Next Ring of Honor PPV
During the post Forbidden Door media scrum, Tony Khan would be asked when fans can expect another ROH PPV. Death Before Dishonor will be coming to Lowell, Massachusetts on July 23rd. This will be the second ROH show of the year, and the card is already starting to take shape.
The latest episode of AEW Rampage would feature some hype for the Ring of Honor faction,Tully Blanchard Enterprises. Brian Cage, Kaun, and Toa would all confront the reigning ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham – who was set to offer Lee Moriarty a title shot. A tag team match was pitched between Gresham & Moriarty vs. two members of TBE – likely setting up Brian Cage challenging for the ROH World Championship.
Meanwhile, we are seeing the start of a feud with ROH Women’s World Champion Mercedes Martinez & Serena Deeb. They have been working together as a tag team, and nearly came to blows following their recent match on AEW Rampage. They are both incredible technical wrestlers, and could really show the skills that are expected in the ROH Women’s division.
Wheeler Yuta currently owes a few title shots for the ROH Pure Championship, namely to Robbie Eagles after a match during the Best of the Super Juniors tournament in New Japan Pro Wrestling. El Desperado, El Lindaman, and El Phantasmo have also won against Yuta during the tournament. Phantasmo is out of the equation, as he will be competing in the G1 Climax at this time.
Finally, the ROH World Tag Team Champions FTR just won another set of championships with the IWGP Tag Team Championships. Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb are both in the G1 Climax, meaning other challengers will have to be named.
