Charles Oliveira is interested in fighting the most paid UFC fighter of all time for quite some time now. He is hoping that Conor will jump in and accept to fight him as soon as possible, so he can secure that winning price. He knows that Conor will bring the money in. And that is what he is after.
In an interview at UFC 276, Charles Oliveira, now without a title, but a first contender to win it, asked McGregor to fight him, as it would be the best match-up for him for his comeback.
Do You Want To Fight Or Not? – Conor McGregor Asked To Sign A Contract To Fight Charles Oliveira ASAP
“Hey Conor, I want this fight, I know you want it too, so are you going to come or run? I know you’re running but I’m here. Are you going to sign the contract or not?” – Oliveira says.
He continues to explain why he thinks that he is the perfect match for the 33-year-old Conor McGregor.
“I think I deserve to choose and I’m choosing Conor because of everything I’ve done to make some money for my family and for everything. If I’m going to choose, I’m choosing Conor.” – Oliveira adds. “People are talking about it so much. I think they might want it to happen. The UFC hasn’t told me anything yet. I want to fight by the end of the year. But really I would prefer to fight in January in Brazil, if that event happens.” – he finishes his speech.
Conor McGregor suffers a broken leg injury from which he still recovers. In his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier, he broke his leg after receiving a strong blow to it and stepping on it in a strange way after landing the shot.
Some of the sounding names in the UFC promotion think that Conor is not to be given a title shot directly. They state that he needs a gentle return. A fight that will accommodate him and bring him back to fighting gently. After all, even though he trains at the moment, he is still far from training with the intensity that he should in order to fight for a title.
One of Conor’s greatest rivals, Ali Abdelaziz says: “Give this guy easy money. We need him to win to pimp him out one more time as we did before.”
Almost everybody in the UFC wants to face Conor McGregor in the octagon. He is the fighter with the highest ‘salary’ making a ‘boom’ whenever he is fighting. His latest fight against Dustin Poirier generated an incredible 1.5 million buys. This made about $140 million for the UFC.
After more than one year being inactive, the UFC expects his return to generate even more pay per view buys.
