Tommy Fury out of Jake Paul fight over Alleged Mob Connection, New Opponent Confirmed

Once more, Paul vs Fury has failed to come to fruition. This time, according to TMZ, it’s visa problems keeping Tommy Fury out of the USA. The Fury family’s alleged connections to the Kinahan family, supposed heads of an international drug cartel. In particular, Tommy’s relationship with major Irish boss Daniel Kinahan, who is currently on the run from authorities.

Kinahan helped found MTK Global boxing promotions, which previously represented Tommy’s elder brother, undefeated (and recently retired) heavyweight champ Tyson Fury.

Tommy Fury released a statement on the matter on Instagram. “I’m gutted and disappointed in regards to the issues I have faced with entry Ito the USA. This is something that myself or my team could have never anticipated happening. This situation has been left with my lawyers as being denied entry to a country is obviously a very serious issue and it needs to subsequently be resolved.

I am confident this fight will happen when this issue gets resolved and we come to a solution. I want to clarify that I will fight in a neutral country that both parties can enter. This can be anytime, any place, anywhere.”

Jake Paul, on the other hand, seems to have moved on pretty quickly. This is the second time a booking for Paul vs Fury has fallen through, although this time Paul won’t be taking on a retired UFC personality. Instead, he’ll be fighting Hasim Rahman Jr, with Paul making the announcement on Twitter.

    “✅ Bigger

    ✅ Stronger

    ✅ More experienced

    ✅ KO power

But it doesn’t matter. They don’t have my heart, don’t have my drive & definitely don’t have my team. August 6 I’m showing the world that Jake Paul is a bad mother fucker. Press conference & ticket on-sale Tuesday 1pm ET.”

Jake Paul will be looking to seal a sixth consecutive win, taking his pro boxing record to 6-0. Rahman, on the other hand, boasts a 12-1 record, with six knockout wins to his name. He’ll enter the boxing ring following the first loss of his pro career, which came in the fifth round against McKenzie Morrison this past April. Rahman’s father, also named Hasim Rahman, was once WBC and IBF heavyweight champ, and once defeated the legendary Lennox Lewis.

This will mark Jake Paul’s first fight against a professional boxer. He’ll be coming off two consecutive victories against former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley, the latter of which saw Paul win via a brutal knockout.

Which way do you see this fight going? Let us know in the comments.
