WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs. Lacey Evans
They scrap for a bit to start. Bayley has an awkward landing and sells her ankle. Suckers her in as a the ref checks on her. Bayley springs up with a cheap shot to the face! Comes off the top rope with an elbow drop for a nearfall! Champ grinds her into the ropes, chinlock cinched in. Lacey fights out, but gets taken down with a clothesline, nearfall. Running elbow to the chin, cover for 2. Bayley slams her into a corner. Charges, but Lacey evades and the champ crashes into the buckles!
Lacey on the apron, pulls Bay out, knee lift to the chest, sunset flip for a nearfall. Back elbow stops her comeback. Bayley to the second rope, mocks Evans with a salute. Twisting Crossbody but Evans ducks it, champion crashes and burns on the mat. Evans looks incensed. Running double axe handles, wristlock, kick to the gut, takedown. Running knee to the chest, Lacey Evans firing up as the crowd kinda goes with it. Springing Bronco Buster! And now a Springing Dropkick from the apron, Evans has to catch herself to keep from going to the floor.
Lacey springs off the top rope, stumbles and falls to the mat but she tries to cover with a swift spinning elbow anyway. Bayley bails to the floor, Lacey pursues and the champ drives her into the barrier. Lacey’s daughter grabs her wrist to try and help her up and it’s adorable. Lacey and Bayley fight into the ring, Evans with a spinning neckbreaker. Standing Moonsault! She goes up top now! Salutes! Double Jump Moonsault, Bayley gets the feet up! Cover, grabs the tights and the champion retains, dirty finish.
Winner: Bayley
That was okay for what it was. The crowd was totally depleted as they had to follow that Rumble match, but they knew that. It was very much designed as a cooldown match in a lot of ways, not really much there meant to get a big reaction. Ultimately Bayley gets the cheap win to keep the feud going and again, not something that’s demanding pops.
