We haven’t called Kane the “Big L Machine” in a while. Let’s look at another one of his relationships as we got to 2004 when he became fixated on Lita. At the time, Lita was still with Matt Hardy which was the crux of the Matt-Kane feud but the meat of this feud was Kane harassing Lita.
The Big L Machine: Kane Harasses Lita and Loses Their Maybe Baby
So, we know that Kane has stalker tendencies. He stalked actual murderer and grave violator The Undertaker when he first stepped his boots in a WWE arena. In reality, you could say that Kane was an avenging angel but he went about it the wrong way so he’s a violent stalker.
Fast forward to 2004, Kane unmasked a year earlier and the guy was unstable. Honestly, you could say that he–the character of Kane–should’ve never been on any roster in any business but WWE wasn’t doing mental evaluations in 1997 or 2004. Canonically, WWE took the hardest wait-and-see approach.
So, he falls in love with Lita who turns him down. He goes extreme and kidnaps her and it’s just a…scene to watch in 2022. WWE used to have this tone shift where you’d have some comedy, have something exciting, maybe an enjoyable high-energy match, then you get a dark kidnapping angle.
This horse limps on and we find that Lita is pregnant and Kane reckons he’s the father—which implies that Lita threw it back for Kane at some point recently while with Matt Hardy. Never mind that, sh**.
Lita eventually moves on from Matt and she is now running with Kane. Lita miscarries after GENE F’N SNITSKY causes Kane to fall over on Lita. We get some tasteless but funny stuff such as GENE F’N SNITSKY booting a baby doll and more of him proclaiming that it wasn’t his fault.
Yes, there’s a “Wrestling Salvage Yard” coming for Gene Snitsky, folks.
The Big L Machine Strikes Again
Let’s run a tally on Kane, folks. He becomes a stalker, kidnaps a woman, creates a traumatizing situation in the worst love triangle, and he had a hand in his possible child dying. The whipped cream and cherry on top are his baby’s mama leaving to join bad boy troublemaker Edge.
It wasn’t a total L for Kane as Lita aligning with Edge made him a babyface! Yes, after he did all that and even got his maybe baby killed because of self-inflicted f**kery. While he is definitely the Big L Machine from this period in his career, things did shake out for him at the end.
