After all the buildup to the Royal Rumble about Edge returning, fueled mainly by Edge’s denials, it’s all out in the open. Not only did he take part in the Rumble with a solid showing, but reportedly, Edge signed a 3 year contract worth “significant money” per WrestleVotes:
Edge recently signed a new 3 year contract with WWE for significant money.

The misdirection Edge put us through as well as the speculation of his return has gone on for the last few months of 2019 until now. The timeline It mainly started with a comment made on The E &C Pod of Awesomeness.
“To be perfectly honest, I think I could do a match tomorrow. And I might be blown up, but I’d be okay. It’s just from what I know with the WWE medical staff, they won’t allow it.”
He followed with a picture of himself ripped from working out, which further fueled the fire.
Over the months since, he’s denied everything vehemently, to the point where he protested too much and had fans not believing him.
This is a good question, and one that’s up in the air until the WWE starts rolling in the next couple of weeks.
It’s been reported that his appearance was meant to build hype for WrestleMania, but there remains the sticking point of a storyline and who to face. There are plenty of options, but there’s another factor to be considered.
How active will he be?
The fact his contract is for three years is a testament to how long he feels he can perform, but will he be part of the WWE’s grueling schedule
Neck injuries can be finicky, and just because he’s feeling fine now, will that be the case in a couple of months?
While we’re getting ahead of ourselves, it’s something he’s thought over for sure. That would’ve gone into his thinking when Edge signed his 3 year contract, so it may be safe to assume he’ll make appearances, but with little in-ring contact. It’d make sense given his medical history and age.
It’s also doubtful he’ll be an attraction like other Legends. He’s too loved and mobile (for lack of a better term) than others. Plus, fans may grow tired of seeing him in the typically stagnant WWE storylines with the current crop of superstars. Although, if anyone’s capable of lifting the WWE out of the doldrums, it’s Edge.
This also opens the door for others to return, even if for only a brief time. Will they? Will Edge turn the WWE around? Plenty of questions that only time will answer.
One thing is for sure. This has the potential to be a really fun ride.
