Horace is the nephew of Hulk Hogan and had a lengthy career throughout the indies and Japan before arriving in WCW in 1997. Could something more be done with Horace Hogan or was he just meant to be B-team 4 life?
WCW Run
Let’s zip through his run in WCW because it wasn’t the most eventful. He shows up in February 1997, joins Raven’s faction The Flock at Spring Stampede, and hangs with them until the fall of 1998. With his uncle feuding with The Warrior, he is offered a spot in the new World order by his famous uncle only to be beaten to a pulp by him as a message to his face-painted foe.
Don’t worry, Horace Hogan eventually joins the nWo as part of the legendary B-team. He would go on to try his luck at ownership of the new World order in a battle royal before becoming part of the recently minted Hardcore division.
Most of his 2000 is spent as Hollywood Hogan’s goon against Billy Kidman—yeah, you remember the Kidman-Hogan feud. After his uncle left the company following Bash at the Beach 2000, Horace was gone soon after.
Salvaging Horace Hogan
Honestly, Horace Hogan was in the right spot as a goon. He didn’t really have the presence that warranted finding him a gimmick or pushing him. However, he did come off as someone who was pretty tough—as if he was alright in a bar fight but really shined if the fight moved to the parking lot.
The Hardcore division was the best home for him and he should’ve been feuding—or even teaming—with everyone in the division as Hardcore Hogan. Make Bam Bam Bigelow his Andre in the division and Brian Knobbs his…Brian Knobbs.
However, WCW put him right where he belonged the whole time. They just started using him a little more than they probably should’ve in the bigger stories.
Also, his brawling should’ve been put forth more in matches than him keeping it in the ring most of the time. The guy could throw fists easily.
