At Worlds Collide, Finn Balor would continue his assault on Johnny Gargano backstage following the match between #DIY & Moustache Mountain. He would be stopped by Tyler Bate & Trent Seven of Moustache Mounatin, but that would just put them on the radar of Balor. Finn would attack Trent Seven in a parking lot for sticking his nose in Balors business, and this would prompt a match between them for NXT. They’re two of the best grapplers in the UK, and their ensuing match was great.
Finn Balor defeats Trent Seven
Balor would attack Seven before he can even get into the ring, giving him the advantage for when the bell would ring. Seven would counter and bring some offense of his own. Balor wouldn’t be denied and would take him down with a slingblade to regain control. They would continue going back and forth, with Seven launching some heavy chops into the chest of Balor. When Seven went to the top turnbuckle, Balor clipped his knee and knocked him to the mat. Balor used the Coup de Grace diving double-stomp and followed up with 1916 for the win.
This was never Trent Sevens match to win, but just another stop on the way to NXT Takeover Portland for Finn Balor. We can expect to see Balor to face Tyler Bate as well before he faces Johnny Gargano in the match many feel will steal the show at the upcoming supercard.
Could Finn Balor Defeat Johnny Gargano?
No one has been able to figure out Finn Balor since his return to NXT. His only loss came at the hands of Adam Cole, which only came about after interference from Undisputed Era. Everyone else who has stepped up to Balor has suffered the same fate. He is more focused and brutal than we have ever seen him.
However, Johnny Gargano at an NXT Takeover event is on a whole other level as well. You don’t get the nickname Johnny Takeover for nothing. Seeing Gargano compete is becoming a special attraction, as he always steals the show. He throws everything into those matches, and that is what could give him the edge against Balor.
