Reports indicate that WWE tag team specialists The Revival (Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder) have requested their release from WWE once again. This doesn’t come as a shock to very many, as it has been no secret they’ve been unhappy with their status in the company, or the status of the tag team division in general.
They previously requested their release this time last year, and it was not granted. WWE has given them some shine, and was given 3 short reigns as Tag Team Champion in that time to try and sway them from leaving and joining the competition. If the reports that they want out are true, clearly this was effect as when ROH put their top championship on Kyle O’Reilly to keep him in the company.
Are The Revival To Be Trusted?
The Revival have been known to mislead fans in the past, and have become quite good at this. They have constantly teased their leaving for years now, to the point where it has gotten excessive. One thing that they have driven into the ground is a potential match with The Young Bucks. This played into the proto-AEW series, Being The Elite as a series of running gags. We could just as easily see them announced to have signed a new mutli-year deal as see them leave the company.
Would They Be AEW Bound, Or Could They Find A Home Elsewhere?
Them going to AEW is almost too obvious a move and while they have a great tag team division, The Revival are so adaptable that they could fit in anywhere. They would be an excellent fit in NJPW, where their throwback heel style would work amazingly. The NWA would also be another amazing home for them, and with The Crockett Cup coming up, it will be a prime stop for any tag team. Working with NWA would also allow for some time in Ring Of Honor, as the companies seem to have a brewing partnership. They will be a huge boon to any tag team division, and there will be a bidding war if they’re out of WWE.
