Conor McGregor announced his comeback to the octagon for the 100th time and fans didn’t like it. Instead, numerous mocking posts emerge, roasting the UFC star.
The Notorious McGregor posts a video on Twitter, as a compilation of highlights from his past fights, and with that, he informs his fans that his comeback is near. However, this backfired badly, as most of the comments he received were mocking him – pointing out to his popularity fading away.
Conor McGregor Receives Mocking On Twitter After ‘Biggest Sports Comeback’ Post – ‘Bro You Come Back Every Year’
While MMA has a broad audience, the UFC promotion, in particular, the audience wants to see action, they don’t like empty talks. And lately, McGregor is full of empty talks. Throughout his life, he announced his retirement several times. All this, so he can come back after a given period and make a ‘comeback’ post on social media.
This last time happens as you read this article. He announced his coming back to the octagon after almost 1 year of inactivity. His most recent fight was against Dustin Poirier at the UFC XXX where he broke his tibia and lost by a TKO.
At the moment, we still don’t know who will the Notorious fight. There have been many callouts from different fighters from different weight divisions. As Conor has been bulked up and weighting more than usual, it is uncertain in which division he’ll fight as well. There are rumors that Michael Chandler would be the lucky winner of the ‘money fight’. However at the moment, nothing is official.
What the UFC fans notice in Conor’s comeback video is that he is using 7-year-old footage to hype up his next fight. He doesn’t have anything more recent to use.
“Imagine having to use like 7-year-old footage to hype up your next fight.” – one user wrote.
Another user joked about the Notorious’s number of comebacks suggesting that this is Conor’s seventh retirement comeback. “Bro, you comeback every year hahah” – he simply tweeted.
Earlier this year, Conor McGregor called out Kamaru Usman, the UFC’s welterweight champion in a try to become the first three-division champion. However, that is out of the plan since Kamaru will fight Leon Edwards later this month.
Many Twitter users point out that Notorious’s ‘golden era’ is completely over. His glory expired and most likely will never return. “You are not beating anyone anymore dude. You’re washed.”
While many are criticizing, Conor McGregor is indeed the most profitable fighter in the UFC. In all MMA promotions, in fact. He gets callouts by other fighters constantly. So if you ask me, are Conor’s days in the octagon over? I’d say definitely no. Yes, his prime is long gone, but he still has more to show.
