The internet is a treasure trove of rumors and factoids floating around, and when dealing with sports, entertainment, or sports entertainment, there are more than a few.
One that’s been buzzing around the last couple of weeks was what is Daniel Bryan’s career altering announcement?
We’ve all speculated, but without any hints from the man himself, it’s harder than hard to pin point what it’s going to be.
Then came the Roman Reigns attacks and more rumors that it was Bryan and the two would meet at SummerSlam.
Now, not to pop a balloon or anything, but why? What would Bryan have to gain in challenging Reigns at this moment character-wise?
There are a couple of possibilities, the first being a balance between creative and personal as Bryan wants to reinvent/prove himself after his and Rowen’s tag run was cut short by the New Day. Sure, the rivalry is still there, but does it have the same impact or will it in the future?
It could be that the company thinks Bryan is better off as a singles competitor, and taking on the Big Dog in a great match would help to push him back to the fore and make him a legitimate threat to a championship instead of relying on Rowen. This seems a little odd given he was just WWE heavyweight champion in March.
Another alternative
On the flip side, if we consider Bryan the brains behind the attacks, the revelation of Rowen attacking Reigns makes him look more like an obedient attack mountain than his own person.
On their own, Rowen and Reigns would have some epic matches, that’s not in doubt. So maybe it’s Rowen striking out on his own, getting the push he so rightly deserves.
What to do with Daniel Bryan if this is the case?
This is where those internet rumors come into play.
It’s been rumored that Bryan will be going to 205 Live.
Yep, that’s right. It’s strictly a rumor, but given the recent arc with Rowen being the one attacked Reigns, it give him a chance to switch over.
The delay in announcing it could simply be to give the Rowen/Reigns arc time to build and give Bryan time to lose some weight. He’s listed at 210, so he’s only five pounds above the maximum of 205, so this would give him plenty of time to lose it healthily instead of a crash diet.
It’d also bring some mainstream fans over to the 205 Live product.
The question is, if this ends up being more than an internet rumor mill, would the fans stay?
