Ahead of tonight’s WWE Monday Night Raw (August 22) from Toronto, Canada where he’ll face Damian Priest, Edge talked about his original retirement plans and that the end of the line is approaching.

Edge got a second lease thanks to medical advancements that allowed him to return in 2020 after being forced into retirement in 2011 with a neck injury.

He’s been open about taking his time and soaking in every experience this time around, but also going out on his own terms.

    Taking it all in

Edge has been given the title of part timer as he rarely wrestles on WWE’s weekly shows Raw and Smackdown to maintain his stance as an attraction for the pay-per-views.

It’s worked as he’s cranked out some awesome promos since returning and it’s made his appearances feel special, and they should be considering few if anyone expected to see him in a ring again.

Edge talked to Bleacher Report about the company under Triple H, and what he hopes to do with his current run.

He explained he looks at himself as a designated hitter to be used where he’s needed, and how he’s enjoyed having more creative input than most due to having a 25 years history with the company, but he’s excited to see that leeway going company wide now.

More than that, he’s grateful to have another chance to give back to the business and fulfil his plans.

“This run, I feel I’ve been able to do some of that. To me, that has been one more layer on this cake that was already tasty anyway,” stated Edge. “I am enjoying and soaking in every moment with the complete realization that it’s going to end soon. I know the end is in sight, and I can see it, and because of that, it makes me enjoy it more.

“My original age was 40 and I screwed that up,” he joked. “I had to retire at 37, so I feel like I didn’t get those last three years of stuff I wanted to do. I was just reaching a position where I was helping teach and I was really looking forward to that because I had so many people over the years help me along the way and I felt, ‘Great, now it’s my turn. Now I can do that.’

Having Edge back is a great experience for new and old fans alike, and it’s great to see him having so much fun with it.

From what he said, he could have anywhere from a couple of months to another year to go, but we have a feeling he’s ending things pretty soon.
