Major League Wrestling has quietly become one of the better promotions in North America. Their weekly show MLW Fusion is currently available for free on YouTube, and they have some fantastic talent on board which makes them a great hour of wrestling to add to your schedule. It might not remain so readily available, as MLW is in talks with Amazon to get their show on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service.
MLW On Amazon Would Get More Eyes On The Product
Amazon has made it a priority to acquire live programming rights and are even said to be in the mix for NFL right, so them looking to pick up the only major promotion without a steady TV deal makes perfect sense. With MLW Fusion on Amazon Prime Video, it will get more eyes on the product due to more advertisement. While it being available for free on Youtube is great, it doesn’t mean much if no one is watching. They are also on Bein Sports, which is a channel with a very small install base, most of their viewership is coming from Youtube at this time.
They won’t be the first wrestling promotion on the streaming service, as Chikara, Dojo Pro, random bits of Memphis wrestling and the England airings of old UWFI are available on the servivce. MLW would be the first to actually get proper promotion with Amazon from this deal.
MLW Recently Gained A Partnership With Dragon Gate
Another perk of this, is that MLW just recently struck a deal with the Japanese promotion Dragon Gate. They are known for their high speed competiton, with people like Shingo Takagi of NJPW, Akira Tozawa of WWE & PAC of AEW being former members of the promotion. They bring a style unlike anything else around, and if this deal with Amazon goes through, it would serve as an excellent level of promotion for them as well. This deal would be an fantastic net gain for wrestling, and could help get MLW on the same level as something like Impact Wrestling.
Do you think this deal for MLW would be a great move for them, or would you rather see them remain easily accessed on YouTube? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
