When you’re the child of a legend, you instantly have very big shoes the fill. We have seen people step up to that role, like Charlotte Flair continiuing her fathers legacy. Others flake out and their ego goes to their head, like Scott Halls son, Cody Hall. One person with massive shoes to fill is the 18 year old daughter of Dwanye The Rock Johnson. Simone Johnson has finally signed with WWE, and will start in the performance center. It will take a lot for the fourth generation superstar to leave her dads shadow, but anything is possible. She had already been hanging out around backstage at NXT, having appeared in videos from Malcolm Bivens twitter page.
The First Fourth Generation Wrestler In WWE
While cases of third generation talent in WWE is becoming common, much rarer is a fourth generation talent. The only one of note in wrestling right is former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champion David Finlay. This makes it much less shocking that Simone is the first fourth generation wrestler to join WWE. She will be carrying on the legacies of High Chief Peter Maivia, Rocky Johnson, and The Rock. That is a lot of weight on her shoulders, making her situation truly sink or swim.
Pressure Breeds Great Results
While we can’t expect Simone to instantly debut on NXT and become a star, the pressure she will be put under to suceed will be a driving force for her. It sets a clear goal in mind, which is important for anyone starting a new chapter of their life. A great example of this is Charlotte Flair. She came into the WWE Performance center as a a complete rookie with a strong family name, and would become one of the greatest female wrestlers of the generation due to the hard work she put into her training. While her family name got her foot in the door, her determination is what got her to the high level she competes at. We can hope Simone Johnson follows the same path, and in a few years time we have another top level female star in the company.
Will Simone Johnson be a star for the company, or will the pressure to suceed be too much for The Rock’s daughter? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
