Gable Steveson seems destined for WWE greatness as he fit Vince McMahon’s dream vision of what a WWE Superstar should be.
He has the ability to be the next Kurt Angle and was being fast tracked to appear in the WWE, but those plans have been halted or slowed with Triple H now running the show.
Gable has appeared at WWE events to impressive fanfare and even had a WrestleMania moment. He was drafted to Raw in last year’s draft that seemed to hint he would be appearing soon, but he hasn’t yet debuted.
Poor workouts blamed
Despite belief that Triple H is very high on Gable, the Wrestling Observer reported that he’s considered cold at the moment and it’s because of his poor training.
The plan was reportedly to have him debut after he finished the NCAA wrestling season in March, but bad training reports on his progress has been less than good and he’s not talked about anymore.
Considering the pause happened while Vince was still running things is interesting. It shows how much training it may be felt he needs yet, but that’s not a bad thing.
Time to grow
After signing a multi year contract with the WWE, the wrestling world was buzzing about his potential and everyone looked forward to his debut and what he’d have in store for us.
Unfortunately, the last time we saw him in the WWE was Night 2 of WrestleMania 38 when he shushed Chad Gable with a suplex, but it’s only a matter of time until he’s ready.
It seems odd to say this about Gable after he had a stellar performance at last year’s Olympics in Tokyo as he established himself as one of the top athletes of his generaion.
But there’s always room to learn and grow and hopefully this slow period will give him time to do just that, and with Mr. Kennedy training him we’re sure he’ll reach his potential.
Another thing that’s sure to help is with Triple H running WWE creative now, he’s not going to be forced into a character of Vince’s choosing.
Triple H has opened the door creatively and given the talent a say in what they’re going to do and that should help Gable settle in and be as comfortable as possible and should lead to his best performance.
Time will tell how it’ll work out, and it’ll be fun to see how Gable develops.
