This past Tuesday was the one year anniversary of NXT 2.0. It was a brand with a rocky start, with many fans of “NXT Black & Gold” being turned off by the influx of new talent and major aesthetic changes. Despite this, NXT remained one of the best places to see in-ring action, with the likes of Carmelo Hayes & Bron Breakker standing out. However, WWE seems to be stepping away from the aesthetic of NXT 2.0 – revealing a new logo at the end of the show. While we know that fans online reacted with excitement, we now know just how the fans in the Capitol Wrestling Centre responded.
WWE NXT Fans Chanted “Black & Gold” For Six Minutes After The Show Ended
While speaking on the “After The Bell” podcast with Corey Graves, longtime WWE NXT commentator Vic Joseph would talk about the in-arena reaction to this news. He’d be quoted saying the following.
“The roof blew off the place – because at the end of the night, and it’s been on social media and it’s been all the buzz and everything is still ‘loading,’ a new logo was shown with the black and gold outline. After the show, I don’t know if I’m going to get in trouble for this or not, the show went off the air, five or six minutes went on and the crowd was still chanting “black and gold.’ To give you an idea, the camera crew had enough time to leave and get brought back out, reconnect, and get put back in position to film some of the audience and then organic reaction. I stood up, took my headset off, and was like, ‘Holy shit.’ Wade Barrett was even laughing. This was unreal, the amount of love that all of a sudden…it’s hard to describe. I guess black and gold means so much to so many.”
We can only hope that cameras were still rolling to capture this sheer fan excitement, as it might prove to show just how excited fans are about the NXT brand in 2022. The next two episodes of WWE NXT have been taped – potentially setting up the end of NXT 2.0, and the start of a new era.
