UFC lightweight and up-and-coming superstar Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett has made no secret of his jiu-jitsu prowess. Although his next Octagon outing is unclear, Pimblett is sticking to his training, as can be seen in this video of Pimblett rolling with – and submitting – ten US Marines in a row.
Pimblett addressed the training regime in the video. “As you can see, pretty tired here. We’re in Camp Pendleton military base in San Diego. They’ve just put me through a hard little session. I’m dripping in sweat like I just jumped out the sea.

Showed them some jiu-jitsu techniques. Then me versus Marines. Not at once, I would’ve got me head punched in. One at a time, winner stays on. Showing them a little bit of jiu-jitsu. Wasn’t easy. My legs are dead.
You’ve made me do a big crazy work circuit, then I’ve had to f*cking roll with every one of you. What the f*ck, boys. I was meant to be doing a three-mile run today, it’s not happening now. Lad, this has been one of my hardest workouts this week, you gang of big b*stards.”
The “one at a time, winner stays on” training style is popular among Brazilan Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, and is colloquially known as isolation or “Rio” training. In some applications, it allows the practitioners to drill certain positions and situations in isolation. In the video, Pimblett rolls with the US Marines, with one even taking “The Baddy” to a stalemate before a reset led to yet another submission for the Liverpudlian fighter.
In the video, Pimblett and the Marines run through various resistance and cardio exercises, including bag work. He also runs the Marines through a few jiu-jitsu positions, including a basic triangle from guard.
Although Paddy Pimblett’s UFC debut saw him knock out opponent Luigi Vendramini in the first round, Pimblett is actually best-known for his jiu-jitsu game. A former Cage Warriors featherweight champion, “The Baddy” picked up his initial following on the local circuit by showcasing some stunning submission, including flying triangles.
Pimblett’s latest Octagon outing, too, showcased his grappling, as Paddy Pimblett submitted Jordan Leavitt via rear naked choke in the second round of their fight at UFC London.
At the end of the video, Pimblett was presented with a Marines challenge coin and an “attitude is everything” piece of an ammunition box in appreciation.
