This is a big one, folks… NXT takes the spotlight this evening with WWE NXT TakeOver: Portland! We’ve got arguably one of the biggest NXT cards yet about to go down tonight! A lengthy rivalry gets a major upgrade as Keith Lee defends the NXT North American Championship against Dominik Dijakovic! And that’s but one of the six high stakes matches we have in store! Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here, about to give you the full coverage of this evening’s show! That means a live recap of every match posted mere moments after they conclude! NXT North American Championship: Keith Lee (c) vs. Dominik Dijakovic
Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic have had a remarkable rivalry over the past year. Every time the two of them have squared off in NXT, it’s been utter madness. The two super heavyweights can truly do anything and that’s basically what their feud has been all about all along. They each believe wholeheartedly in changing everyone’s minds as to how a giant can wrestle in today’s day and age. I can say that I’ll never get tired of seeing men their size show off the staggering athleticism that they posses.
But now, it’s on a whole other level. Their previous bouts were all on regular episodes of NXT. This one is on a TakeOver. No commercial breaks, much less of a time constraint, and a much bigger and probably louder crowd to work in front of. And no competition either, all eyes should be on NXT tonight. And that’s not even going into the fact that this time, a title is on the line. One that Keith Lee possesses and one that Dominik Dijakovic first set his sights on a full year ago, only to never get his one-on-one chance until today.
There is every reason to think these two are going to top everything that they’ve done so far, atleast on NXT. And the goal is likely to top everything they’ve done anywhere. Fun fact, the two of them had a five star match back in PWG three years ago. So that’s the bar. This one will be nuts. As for who wins… smart money is probably on Keith Lee, but I gotta say, I’m not sure how long he’ll be holding this title when it’s oh-so-obvious he should be in the NXT title picture. I wouldn’t be shocked if he got the Gargano treatment, dropping the North American title here only to enter the main event scene shortly after.
And you know what? I think I’m feeling bold enough to go for it. I dunno if Lee’s going for the NXT title at TakeOver: Tampa or at WrestleMania or what, but I feel confident enough to say that they’ll be getting the gold off of him for it sooner than later regardless. And there’s no man more fitting to take it off of his hands than Dijakovic. Dominik Dijakovic over. Could very easily be wrong, but I’m going with it.
