The WWE career of Bobby Lashley has been an interesting one to follow. His initial run with the company was a let down, with many viewing him as a poor replacement for the likes of Goldberg & Brock Lesnar, despite him showing serious skill in the ring. A run in Impact Wrestling led many to change their opinions on Lashley, and his second run in WWE has seen him become the WWE Champion twice. However, he’s made his money in the industry – and is only doing it for the legacy at this point.
Bobby Lashley Will Stop When He Slows Down In The Ring
While speaking with Sam Roberts on NotSam Wrestling, Lashley would detail just when he intends to retire from the ring. It’s not going to be anytime soon, but it’s dependant on how long his body remain in peak shape. Lashley would be quoted saying the following.
“I’m not doing it for the money right now. Over the years I’ve compiled a really nice real estate portfolio and different things like that. So that I’ve taken care of my kids. Right now, I’m doing it more for the legacy. I love wrestling and I have the ability to do it. I think I’m showing people something different. I’m that guy. That guy in the morning workouts. I’m that guy that trains hard. I’m okay with being a role model. I’m okay with all these different things.
So I want to stay in the business as long as I can for that reason. But if there ever comes a time where I am running a little bit slower, I am moving a little slower, I take a bump and it’s like, ‘Oh no, this hurts coming back up.’ You’re gonna get that anyway. But if it ever gets to that point where I feel like I’m slowing down then let’s stop.”
Right now, Lashley is in a feud with Brock Lesnar – with the two set to meet in a singles match at WWE Crown Jewel in early November. How long do you expect Lashley to stay active in WWE?
