WWE Monday Night Raw has begun, I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the recap of the action as it comes. Opening the show once more is Randy Orton, who later tonight shall face Kevin Owens. After a quick “You Suck” chant, he says that he needs to apologize. Big heat makes him pause. Says that he’s not the most sentimental of men but lately his emotions have become unbalanced. He says this morning he was told that it has been fifteen years since Monday Night Raw has made it to Winnipeg. Orton says that he would’ve been 21 at the time.
Thanks to the internet he saw that on that Raw, 15 years ago, he was Intercontinental Champion and he was also punched in the face by a certain man. A man who would eventually save him from himself, a man who would eventually save him from his self-destructive tendencies, a man that he would learn to love like a brother, his name was Adam. But all of you call him Edge. Pop. “We Want Edge” chant cuts Orton off. He says that Edge can’t be here tonight because of what he did to him almost a month ago. What he did to him, he doesn’t expect you to understand, in fact, he knows that none of them could ever understand why he did what he did. But what he did, he is very sorry for. He is truly sorry from the bottom of my heart.
Kevin Owens’ music hits.
Big pop as Canada’s own Owens comes out to confront Randy and they are way behind him here tonight. He starts to speak but a huge chant of his name interrupts. Says for the past few months he’s been dealing with a lot of delusional people. AOP, their buddy Murphy (heh) and the Monday Night Moron Seth Rollins. But tonight he’ll put that issue aside because tonight he has an issue with Orton. Since dealing with delusional people is his specialty, he heard him apologize to Edge and here’s the thing, he doesn’t think he means it. Asks him to drop the act and tell everyone why he did it. Matt Hardy came to ask and all he got was a vicious beatdown twice and now he’s asking, why he did it.
Randy says you don’t want to go down that road. Kevin Owens says no, he thinks he really does. Kevin says that he has been a fan of WWE his entire life and he remembered what it felt like to see Edge retire from home. He was already a wrestler, trying to work his way to WWE. Not only did it suck for him but it sucked for Owens and everyone like him who would never get a chance to work with him. When Edge came back at the Rumble he was waiting for his own entrance but he wasn’t watching as a WWE Superstar, he was watching as a fan and he loved seeing him get that life back. Thought that perhaps he’d get a chance to step into the ring with him! But then Orton took him out. So why?
Orton asks, “You think you know me?” which is cute. Owens says the people are sick of hearing us talk, let’s have a fight! Randy gets the people riled up, promising a match right here tonight in Winnipeg, accepts it – but not right this minute. Bails from the ring amidst major heat!
