‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) may have bitten off more than she ever felt like chewing when she invited Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) to come stay at her condo. Ava was ready to be discharged from GH after being attacked by The Hook, and she was not ready to go home to Wyndemere.
Still trying to figure out how she felt about Nikolas Cassadine’s (Marcus Coloma) infidelity, she fully intended to shack up at the Metro Court Hotel. Nina wouldn’t hear of it and extended the personal invite to Ava right away. She might be wishing she would have hesitated now, though.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sonny Encourages Distance Between Nik and Ava
When Ava recently met with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) to discuss a few things, the topic of her marriage did come up. Ava was considering heading back to Wyndemere. She missed Nikolas and their life together, but she didn’t know how to reconcile what he had done to her. Sonny was immediately concerned about her interest in moving back to Spoon Island, and he encouraged her to think twice.
Following that exchange, more conversations are going to arise — and sometimes in Nina’s presence — that lead her to believe Sonny’s interest in Ava may not be entirely based on friendship. Why is he so protective of Ava? Is it just that she is the mother of his daughter, Avery Corinthos (Grace Scarola), or is it something more? Nina can’t help but think there is.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sonny’s Opinion Carries Weight with Ava
When you’re cohabitating with someone, you start to notice things about them that you wouldn’t have before. Nothing is a cramp in someone’s style more than feeling like their space is being taken over by a houseguest. But what about when it feels like your guest is taking over your life? Alright, that might be a little melodramatic, but Nina is most certainly starting to feel like Ava is taking more than her fair share of face-time with Sonny.
When Nina notices Sonny’s opinion is something that matters to Ava and one that she respects, she’s not going to look at Ava and Sonny’s relationship in the same light. In fact, Nina may have liked Sonny and Ava better when they truly hated each other.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Nina Feels Like a Third Wheel
As this new couple still struggles to find their way — and to find others in their orbit who approve of their relationship, it’s going to be hard for Nina to reconcile that Ava actually had a relationship with Sonny first. Not only that, but she shares a child with him, and Nina will never have that kind of connection with Sonny.
He keeps her at arms length away from his business, and by default, she’s mostly away from his children. Nina is starting to feel like Ava fits into Sonny’s life more than she does. Is the problem really Ava? Of course not! But that’s going to be Nina’s target for now while she avoids accepting the truth.
