Matt Hardy has been teasing an exit from WWE. With his contract up on March 1st, and being written off TV after a vicious assault by Randy Orton, he would make a very clean exit from the company. However, WWE doesn’t like to lose anyone from their roster with value. Matt Hardy is a very established veteran in the company, being around since the late 90’s.
Matt Hardy And His Legacy
Alongside his brother Jeff, Matt would be one of the most iconic tag team wrestlers in the history of WWE, and an accomplished singles star as well. They would return from years away a few years back at Wrestlemania, and WWE fans got a taste of Broken Matt as well. WWE failed to go all in on the Broken Brilliance of Hardy, which is one of the reasons he’s been looking to exit the company. A jump to AEW to be revealed as the Exalted One of The Dark Order is the leading theory on his path, but WWE has sweetened their offer to Hardy.
More Creative Freedom In NXT
One of the reasons why NXT stands out from Smackdown & RAW is that wrestlers have more freedom in the direction of their characters. We see people like Velveteen Dream & Finn Balor benefit from this, and Matt would be no different. His body is broken down, but he still has one of the best minds for the wrestling industry. If he was behind the scenes on NXT, or an on-screen performer, we would get some very interesting angles. It would be a lot more interesting than him occasionally popping up in a throwaway match. It would also give NXT a solid veteran talent to work with, something the roster lacks.
A Short Wait
With so many ways this story can go, it’s good the conclusion is in sight. By the end of this week, we will know if Hardy stays or leaves the company. March 1st is approaching quickly, and this has become a major story, with many fans interested. Wherever Matt Hardy lands, the hype built up over the past month should help him make a major impact.
