Last week, fans of NXT were robbed of a chance to see the 22 year old wrestling prodigy Austin Theory compete. This was due to Tomasso Ciampa taking his time to speak his mind about the attack he suffered at the hands of Johnny Gargano at the end of NXT Takeover Portland. Theory would try to interrupt Ciampa, and got thrown all around Full Sail for his troubles. This would result in a match being confirmed for this week on NXT, where Theory would get a chance at revenge.
Tomasso Ciampa defeats Austin Theory
Despite going up against one of the greatest wrestlers in NXT history, we would see Ciampa get shocked by the upstart Austin Theory who dominated the early portions of this match. Commentary did a great job trying to hype up Theory as the next big thing in NXT, while the NXT crowd did their best to make sure he didn’t have a single person cheering for him. The crowd was fully behind Ciampa, but Theory still dominated the match. At one point, Theory would take Ciampa to the outside and get some revenge, as he would whip Ciampa into the barricades like Ciampa did to him last week. This would cost Theory the match, as once he would try to get back into the ring, he would eat a running as he was climbing back through the ropes. After a draping DDT, Ciampa used Fairytale Ending to put Theory away.
Johnny Gargano Attacks Tomasso Ciampa
Almost as soon as the bell rang to notify fans that Ciampa had won, Johnny Gargano would hit the ring and start attacking Ciampa. During the ensuing brawl, Theory would try to get involved only to be punched out by Ciampa. This would give Gargano the opening he needed to delver a superkick which put Ciampa down. Gargano then sat on the ring apron and taunted the crowd at Full Sail. He got a very mixed reaction, with some still choosing to cheer him after his vicious attacks on Ciampa. This shows that no matter what, Gargano will always have his supporters.
How do you think Ciampa will get his revenge after this beatdown from Gargano? Will it happen next week on NXT? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
