We’re nearing the release of the debut of AEW in the console video game market, as AEW Fight Forever is scheduled for a 2023 release. Gameplay trailers are becoming more common as the final build of the game approaches, but there was a key issue with the game that needed addressing – having to do with the cover art of the game. Originally, CM Punk was front and center, but following AEW All Out – Punk potentially burnt the bridge with the company, after trashing key figures in a media scrum. AEW has seemingly now unveiled new artwork without the 2x AEW World Champion.
New Artwork For AEW Fight Forever Lacks CM Punk
This art would be seen for the first time at the conclusion of the latest gameplay trailer for the game. With a style closer to AEW live event posters, with a larger range of talents showcased. CM Punk has not been seen on any AEW promotional material since All Out, and likewise has not been mentioned on their programming.
Now front and center is Kenny Omega, Hangman Page & Britt Baker – with Page having been missing from the original art. Also added is Sting, Orange Cassidy, Bryan Danielson & MJF. It’s possible that this new art is simply to be used for promotional material, as the original cover art might have already been printed.
Likely To Still Be Playable
As for the inclusion of CM Punk in the game, it seems highly likely he will remain on the roster – unless he took legal action to be removed. Punk was still on the roster for WWE 2K15 – which released after his messy exit from WWE in 2014. We already have confirmation that Cody Rhodes will remain in the game despite leaving AEW earlier this year, and there is no reason to expect anything different in regards to CM Punk.
There is still no solid release date for AEW Fight Forever, with a vague 2023 being the most solid information provided. We can likely expect a Spring 2023 release – and when the game releases, extensive coverage can be found right here on TheOvertimer.
