At one point not too long ago, Asuka was the most feared member of the WWE roster. She tore through the NXT roster, with no one able to figure out how to beat her. Asuka would have to vacate the NXT Women’s Championship after 510 Days, just to come up and find fresh opponents. Those days are sadly gone, as the aura of Asuka has been dulled. She is still a champion, being one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions with Kairi Sane. Despite that title, she has been chasing Becky Lynch since January, and Elimination Chamber victory is her only shot at getting back the RAW Women’s Championship.
Bringing Back Her Dominance
While her runs on RAW & Smackdown have fallen flat, Asuka is still capable of being the world-beater she was down in NXT. The skills have never left, she has just never been able to build up the same level of momentum she was able to gain during her time in NXT. A strong victory at Elimination Chamber would do a lot to have her back on track to being the absolute star she once was. She is one of only two people in this match who has been able to best Becky Lynch in the past, meaning that should she win, it will be something for Becky Lynch to be worried about.
Asuka Could Miss The Match Due To Injury
While she has one of the strongest cases for victory in this coming match, her status in the match is in trouble. Asuka had suffered a wrist injury over this past weekend while competing at a live event. This changed the planned match with Shayna Baszler on Monday to have Kairi Sane compete instead. With only a few short days between now and Elimination Chamber, we could see Asuka pulled from the match. We would expect her tag partner to take her spot, and have a great chance of winning in her own way. A victory for either would be likely to bump the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships off the Wrestlemania card.
Do you think Asuka will be able to reassert her dominance at Elimination Chamber? Will she even make it to the match with her injured wrist? Let know what you think in the comment section down below.
