WWE snubs Michelle McCool and takes another public relations nightmare during Women’s History Month. There are times where all we can do is assume someone messed up, and if this was one of those times, it was a big one.

While many may discount what she did because she entered the WWE during the Diva period, that shouldn’t take away from her accomplishments. She was a four-time champion, was the inaugural WWE Divas Champion, and later unified the championship with the WWE Women’s Championship. In 2010. She even came out of retirement for the 2018 Women’s Royal Rumble where she eliminated five other opponents.

    Mistakes were made

So, when she was left off the WWE.com’s Greatest Women’s Champions Gallery, it was a shock and an insult.

    Real talk-when you’ve put up w/ more in past than anyone would believe(simply b/c I’m the @undertaker wife)have rarely been mentioned for making ANY contribution to the “women’s revolution”-but WOW-not even top 45!#zerotalent #undertakerswife #laycoolwho #hadtospeak #stillblessed https://t.co/0VY7QyUALV

    — McCool (@McCoolMichelleL) March 3, 2020

It may not have been the best way to handle it, but she was totally justified in her response. As a result, the WWE added LayCool at number 46, then bumped them up to 44.

In total suck-up mode (imagine what the poor individual that left her off the list is going through), the WWE bumped her up to number 5. Of course, this caught the attention of her husband, the Undertaker, who shared his displeasure.

We’ve made some pretty 𝑐𝑜𝑜𝑙 updates to this #WomensHistoryMonth gallery. See which trailblazers we’ve added! @McCoolMichelleL #BullNakanohttps://t.co/V9VHlhYyZA

This was the Deadman’s first tweet since September 2019, and it shows his understandable disgust at the whole thing. It’s been a thing lately, whether intentionally or not, to slight the Undertaker as when Smackdown premiered on Fox, he was advertised to be there but was reportedly told he wasn’t needed.

    WWE needs to do more

It’s great the WWE is honoring their women wrestlers, especially during Women’s History Month, but at some point they have to stop placating people and actually do something worthwhile like give the women their own brand and emphasize the division’s history, not just the current or recent stars.

There are so many others that were left off the list or barely made it Like Wendi Richter at number 50. Hard to swallow as she was as big as Hulk Hogan before the Original Screwjob and he leaving the company all because she wanted to be paid fairly. What about Leilani Kai or the Fabulous Moolah? Sure, Moolah has a lot of dirt on her, but she still had a hand in growing the women’s division.

Where’s Mae Young? She went through a table on national television when most women her age would be enjoying retirement. She even told Budda Ray Dudley not to hold back.

The face of the women’s division has changed over the years, but that doesn’t mean only the women of the last twenty years should be honored. Come on, WWE, you can do better than this.
