Tag Team Gauntlet Match – Winners Get The Last Entry Into The Elimination Chamber
This Sunday is the Elimination Chamber, and of the two Chamber matches, one is for the WWE SmackDown tag team titles. As is something of an annual tradition now, in the lead up to this match we’re having a Gauntlet where the winner will get the last entry into the match, and therefore be the freshest at the end. The participants are as follows: Heavy Machinery, The New Day, Lucha House Party, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode, The Usos and of course the defending tag team champions John Morrison & The Miz.
This match was basically sprung on the champs out of nowhere last week with very little in the way of justification. Their first defense is an Elimination Chamber match because screw them for some reason. A wonderful situation to put a heel team in. They were also directly defeated in a non-title loss last week just a day after getting the gold, with the Usos knocking them off. I’m assuming that one gets revisited here tonight.
One can reasonably assume that Heavy Machinery and Roode & Ziggler will be teased if not flatout be one of the combinations here. But the ironmen in this gauntlet will almost definitely be the Usos, making it through several teams until Miz & Morrison emerge at the end of it to pick the bones. This would not only net them the victory but foreshadow what may end up happening at the Elimination Chamber proper. They can subvert that or play it straight if they wish. I kinda wouldn’t be surprised if the Chamber itself did have basically the same conclusion, leading to a Mania title defense against the Usos where they finally get a fair shot. Either way, I gotta think the heel champs have the advantage on Sunday, so Miz & Morrison over.
