At NXT Deadline, history was made when The New Day would become Triple Crown Tag Team Champions by winning the NXT Tag Team Championships from Pretty Deadly. Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods were able to come out on top in an incredible match, and tonight make their way onto NXT TV once again for a championship celebration.

Pretty Deadly Needs To Wait For Their Rematch With The New Day

New Day would get an amazing reaction as they hit the ring, and some chants of Triple Crown. Woods would point out that Kofi is the first ever man to win the tag team and singles triple crowns, and is a record 15 time tag team champion – beating out the likes of Booker T, who claims he has 16 reigns. However, as special as this moment is for Kingston – he thinks it’s bigger for Woods.

Having the first match in modern NXT history against Big E, Woods has a long history with the brand. He was the first to graduate from the Performance Center to the main roster, but never won gold in NXT… until now. Pretty Deadly would crash the celebration, claiming new Day ruined Christmas by defeating them for the belts.

Woods would rub salt in the wound by reminding them in the same week, England was knocked out of the World Cup, Kingston out twerked Elton Prince, and they lost the belts. The New Day however are ready to give a rematch, knowing they made magic at Deadline.

Kingston sees a great future for Pretty Deadly, but… first they want Pretty Deadly to say the Pledge of Allegiance first. Then they’ll get their rematch. Pretty Deadly was unable to do so, but Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen were able to recite it from memory. Due to this, they get a title match next week – and Pretty Deadly will have to wait.

JD McDonagh Takes Down Brutus Creed

JD McDonagh fell short at NXT Deadline, being unable to win the Iron Survivor Challenge – nothing even scoring a single fall. However, despite being a bit banged up – he was more than willing to provoke Brutus & Julius Creed in the trainer’s room earlier tonight – and now meets Brutus in singles action.

McDonagh would be easily forced into the corner with the power of Brutus, only to come off the top rope with a headlock takeover. Brutus would shove him off before shrugging off some strikes from McDonagh, and running him down with a heavy lariat. McDonagh would send Brutus to the floor, and hit a dropkick off the apron – with Brutus hurting his hand on the announce table.

McDonagh would focus on the injured hand, before Brutus would toss him from the ring. Brutus would continue to throw McDonagh around, before taking a jawbreaker over the top rope. McDonagh would drop Julius with a PK, before catching Brutus as well.

A steel chair would nearly be used, with Indus Sher stopping McDonagh. Instead, a Devil Inside Suplex on the floor would follow – with a second in the ring putting Brutus down for the count. Indus Sher are trying to keep The Creed Brothers at 100% for a big match down the line, but that might not be possible if they keep getting provoked by McDonagh.

    Lyra Valkyria Makes NXT Debut

For the past few weeks, the NXT Women’s division has been put on notice with a set of vignettes for the debutting Lyra Valkyria. Formerly known as Aoife Valkyrie in NXT UK, this Irish born wrestler was considered to be one of the fastest rising stars on the brand, and is not waiting for NXT Europe to continue her rise. Tonight, she makes her debut on NXT – and might give another foe for NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose to worry about.

Amari Miller would be picked as her first opponent, and would be quickly taken down to the mat for a one count. Valkyria would send Miller to a floor still full of smoke from her entrance with a dropkick, before a second through the ropes. Back in the ring, Miller would drive Valkyria head first into the turnbuckle, only to be cut down with some quick kicks in the middle of the ring before a Northern Lights Suplex for a two count.

Miller would be able to set up a running senton, before being dropped with another kick and the diving splash for the victory. A dominant victory for Valkyria, who has a promising future in America. Will she win the NXT Women’s Championship? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
