Sometimes, tough calls have to be made when it comes to wrestlers. We see good wrestlers get released or sent to NXT while wrestlers with less talent get pushed and promoted. With Chad Gable, he is someone that WWE fans always liked, but it didn’t seem like he ever got that push. NXT could change this for him.
Why Should Chad Gable Want to Return to NXT
Chad Gable is a wrestler who is probably the closest thing to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle in wrestling today. From his in ring style, to his mic work, to his charisma, even down to his look, he should be in a better spot than he is right now.
I actually like Otis but I think that Chad Gable’s tag team with him has run its course and is hold Gable back. Gable showed when he was in American Alpha that he was a serious wrestler that can do whatever you need him to do in the ring.
I think that him being a “small” guy held Vince back from pushing him, but he was getting television time so I don’t think that Vince hated him, just didn’t know what to do with him.
He should want to return to NXT because there is a lot of young talent down there and there would be no issue with him beating any of them. Also, he has history down there and still has more to prove.
Although he is known as half of one NXT’s most beloved babyface tag teams, he never had a proper run as a singles in NXT or WWE.
What Would Chad Gable Do in NXT
Of course, he would be a singles star. I would put him in the NXT Heavyweight title picture right away. I know that he doesn’t have history as a singles wrestler in NXT but we all know who he is.
I think that the North American title picture is solid and don’t need Gable. The NXT Championship picture is in a different position though. It seems like every time that Bron Breakker has a challenger, they come out of no where.
They probably just won a feud or got a big victory, but they wasn’t in the picture before that. With Chad Gable, he should be put into the main event picture right away and should hold the NXT Championship at least once.
Something else that I would like to see from Chad Gable is for him to change from a heel back to a babyface. Even though I tend to lean towards heel characters, Gable has shown that he is as good as a babyface as he is as a heel.
NXT needs more top babyfaces, which will eventually would help the main roster down the line. There is a reason why all of the champions on Raw and Smackdown except for Bianca Belair are heels. Because they lack babyfaces that fans would buy as champions.
I think a good starting storyline for him would be against Apollo Crews. During Crews’ match against Bron Breakker at NXT Deadline, Crews showed flashes of something in him that was crazy and I think that he could be going heel sometime in the future.
This could set Crews and Gable up for the good old double turn with Gable going back to being a babyface.
