‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) Spoilers have been hard on the writers for a while and for good reasons, but they’ve been hitting a good stride with how they’ve developed the angle between the Abbotts and their friends.
It’s come down to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) seemingly losing her mind and common sense after she contacted Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) about Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters).

Her judgement on that is questionable at best, and it blurred the line between right and wrong but it’s made the show more interesting than it’s been in a while.

There’s still plenty of room for this portion of the storyline to go and we can see Phyllis becoming so desperate that she could actively join Stark instead of urging him to leave Genoa City.
If she does see the light and realize the damage she’s done — we doubt she will until it’s way too late — it could make things worse. As we mentioned, we doubt she’ll stop until someone, say her daughter, gets hurt.
But then she’ll probably just target Diane even more.
Phyllis isn’t alone in her blind hatred as Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) is right there with her, though not quite as extreme.

Ashley has been no where near as radical as Phyllis in their endeavor as she spoke out about them not harming Jabot and then against bringing Stark to town.
Though she wanted to avoid having things thrown in turmoil or danger, she has been radical in her own way in that her stance against Diane never changed aside from her digging her heals in even more as Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) defended her.
To be honest, Jack hasn’t been defending Diane directly, more like defending his son and family from the problems caused by others seeking Diane’s destruction.
Of course, Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) returning threw a wrench in that as he’s only helped widen the divide between Ashley and Jack by providing Ashley with a sounding board and his understanding.
It’s worked so far, but like Phyllis, Ashley will be forced to open her eyes to what she’s helped cause and we doubt that’ll happen until it’s too late.
There’s plenty of room to go in this storyline and ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers can’t wait to see what turns are coming in it.
