When NXT switched over the NXT 2.0, a few names truly stood out as potential stars from the start. While it’s easy to focus on the likes of Bron Breakker, others like Solo Sikoa would truly prove themselves over the course of the next year. Sikoa was always known to be related to The Usos & Roman Reigns, but was keen on finding his own path to success… only to show up in Wales to help Reigns remain Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Drew McIntyre, and found out he was getting called up to the main roster in the process.
Solo Sikoa Found Out He Was Joining The WWE Main Roster Just Before Clash At The Castle
While speaking with New York Post, Solo Sikoa would be asked when he learned he would be leaving NXT to join the WWE main roster. Sikoa would tell the following story.
“It was actually from Roman and Hunter (Triple H). I just got the call saying my flight is getting booked for Clash at the Castle, but I was still hurt at the time. I got cleared just in time before flying out. I got cleared on a Monday and I flew out on a Friday. When I got there, nobody said anything to me. Everybody was just like quiet, even Roman and Paul. I knew what I was there for but I didn’t know because the mission wasn’t clear.
When we were getting ready to open up doors for Clash at the Castle, Triple H walks in and this is my first time meeting him. Then he goes, “You know this is your call-up?” I was like, “Nah I didn’t know.” “Welcome to the main roster, you’ll be on SmackDown.”
Following this moment, Sikoa would return to NXT to win the NXT North American Championship, only to be stripped of the title due to the match not being properly sanctioned by NXT management. Sikoa has since remained on Smackdown Live as the enforcer of The Bloodline, even competing as a part of the WarGames match at Survivor Series. Many expect him to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship in 2023, being one of the few on the roster who can match the physicality of GUNTHER.
