When World Tag League began, there was a section of fans rooting for Bishamon to win back to back tournaments. They would defeat Aussie Open in the finals to make this come true, and now look to repeat their success from Wrestle Kingdom 16 to become two time IWGP Tag Team Champions.

Standing in their way is FTR, who have been on a streak of bad luck – failing to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships, and then losing both the ROH & AAA Tag Team Championships. Tonight, the Top Guys look to make their third defence as IWGP Tag Team Champions, as they make their Tokyo Dome debut, and keep their last pieces of gold.

FTR Nearly Didn’t Make The Show

FTR would kiss the belts, but you have wonder if they’re kissing them – or kissing it goodbye. Wheeler was tired, showing up 30 minutes before the show due to a delayed flight from the United States. Despite this he’d start with YOSHI-HASHI, taking him down to the mat with a side headlock takeover.

YOSHI-HASHI would fight to his feet, and was able to run Wheeler down with a shoulder tackle. Goto would tag in, and Harwood would follow. Harwood would shove Goto before they’d trade strikes in the middle of the ring. YOSHI-HASHI would hit the ring for a double shoulder tackle, before being hip tossed into a senton on Harwood.

Shoto would be set up, but Harwood fought free before hitting a brainbuster. Goto would roll to the floor, with Wheeler hitting the dive. Back in the ring, FTR would pull a page from Power & Glory, hitting the Superplex into the diving splash. Goto was left in the middle of the ring, and sandwiched with lariats. Dragon Suplex would land, and YOSHI-HASHI was left to save the match.

Harwood would be dropped with the Ushigoroshi – giving Goto a chance to take in YOSHI-HASHI. FTR would try to double team him, only to be cut down with strikes before Harwood hit a right head to the jaw – with YOSHI-HASHI barely noticing it and hitting the headhunter. Shoto was set again, but Wheeler kicked YOSHI-HASHI away before FTR hit Big Rig.

Bishamon Takes Down FTR And Leave Them Beltless

Somehow, YOSHI-HASHI would make the save – once again proving his status as the MVP of Bishamon. Wheeler looked for a suplex, with YOSHI-HASHI countering, both men tilting to the floor. Harwood & Goto would trade heavy blows in the middle of the ring, before Goto hit the brainbuster. YOSHI-HASHI was ready for a tag, nailing a superkick to set up Karma.

FTR would shut this finisher attempt down, nailing the Spike Piledriver – with Goto making the save this time. Wheeler was sent out of the ring, and Harwood took a lariat to the back of the neck. Shoto would land, with YOSHI-HASHI making the pinfall – and Goto playing defense.

For the second year in a row, Bishamon have won the World Tag League and followed that up with winning the IWGP Tag Team Championships in the Tokyo Dome. They’ve truly become the greatest tag team in the world today, and FTR went from belt collectors to having zero gold.

What is next for FTR as they return to the United States? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
