There’s been a lot of talk and teasing from the WWE that the Hurt Business is going to reform in the coming weeks, and it seems even more certain after reports that the Hurt Business was seen backstage at this week’s Raw (January 2).
The rumors seemed to gain steam the week after Bobby Lashley was suspended by Adam Pearce following his attack on the WWE executive.
Is the Hurt Business Back in Business?
MVP approached Pearce the following week requesting to speak with Lashley, but Pearce was pulled away by a situation backstage.
It’s been left open since then, and it makes sense that the group would be coming together and rearming for a memorable return.
Getting the band back together
Since being broken up on August 8, 2022, Lashley went onto a good run as the United State Championship and MVP managed Omos, but both seemed to have fizzled out for various reasons.
Unfortunately, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander didn’t have nearly as successful careers, but it looks they all could be returning to prominence.
In November prior to Crown Jewel, Lashley appeared on Radio Rahim in Saudi Arabia and he promised to reform the Hurt Business.

“The Hurt Business was something that everybody loved and everybody will still love. Never say never. Not even never say never, I will make sure that somehow, some way, we get back together because it seems like right now, everybody is getting back into some sort of group in the WWE. There are so many different factions coming together. The most important faction and one of the biggest factions for the last few years, the one that took us through the pandemic was the Hurt Business. During the pandemic, everyone else was staying at home, so many people staying at home, didn’t want to go to work, so many people who took a backstep. The Hurt Business stepped up. We were every part of the show for a long time. That should get a rebirth”
Like Lashley mentioned, the WWE is growing more factions by the week, and the Hurt Business was one of the biggest in the WWE when they broke up.
MVP has said he lobbied to keep them together, but Vince McMahon disagreed, so they broke up in 2022 after reforming in 2021.
It’d be great to see them together and in action again, and it doesn’t matter to us if they’re faces or heels, though given the current number of heel factions, a face one would be a welcome addition.
We’d love to see them face off with The Judgement Day or Bloodline at some point. There are plenty of matchup and storyline possibilities there, especially in light of AJ Styles’ unfortunate injury.
