The issue with WWE’s titles started last year but the root of the issue started before titles came into play. When Smackdown moved to Fox and they did the latest brand split, WWE has had a hard time keeping Raw and Smackdown wrestlers from showing up where ever they want. Here are three ways to rehab WWE’s title scene.
Balance the Women’s Division Star Power Between the Two Brands
My first thought here was to just combine the Raw and Smackdown women’s titles instead but I think that if some of the women traded places with each other, that everything would be fine.
The main issue with the titles right now is that Raw has all of the top tier talent and star power while Smackdown is struggling in that department. They have talent too but no one cares.
The blame for this falls onto WWE but that don’t change the fact that no one cares about the women over there.
Who is going to challenge Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship? Nobody interesting.
Meanwhile, on Monday nights, you have women like Asuka, Nikki Cross, and others that aren’t doing anything with their time. Move some of them over to Smackdown for some women with potential and I think that these titles will be fine.
Make the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships Raw Exclusive
Because the women that hold the titles happen to be on Raw, they are basically Raw exclusive, but I think that it needs to be something that WWE follows.
I don’t think that the women’s tag team division shouldn’t compete on Smackdown, I just think that progression of storylines and all title defenses from the division should be only on Raw.
Raw has an issue right now with the lack of meaningful things on the show. The only things that people tend to care about right now is the United States Championship and the Raw Women’s Championship.
For a show that has one extra hour of programing more than the other, you have to give Raw more. I think that no matter what brand you are on, if you are in a women’s tag team, you can go to Raw to wrestle.
There has to be boundaries to this though. There shouldn’t be Smackdown women interacting in Raw women storylines outside of the tag team division. Also, a tag team is two people, don’t bring your and one to the matches (this goes for you Damage CTRL).
Split the World Titles and the Tag Team Titles
This is a situation that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. I don’t know what the ultimate end goal for this was but I think anyone could see that this was a bad idea unless they were going to end the brand split which would also be a bad idea.
This decision is mostly to help Raw out because they need more content to fill the three hours on Mondays. Basically, taking two whole divisions away from talent is never a good thing.
It’s worse when you don’t have anything to replace those divisions with. On Mondays, there are a bunch of matches that probably shouldn’t happen and few interesting storylines.
The reason for this is that all the wrestlers can do is make empty threats towards the World and Tag Team champions because they have to wait for them to come to Raw.
Hopefully, this would also fix the issue with wrestlers feeling like it is alright to just walk onto another brand and wrestle on the show for no reason.
This should be the last pin that needs to fall in order to make a solid brand split and keep wrestlers on one brand to stay where they supposed to be.
