One of the more forgotten NXT appearances of 2022 came when R-Truth showed up following Halloween Havoc to mock Grayson Waller. This resulted in a match, where Truth would suffer a rare injury after a dive went wrong. Since then, he’s been on the shelf – needing surgery to repair his body. However, things wouldn’t go as planned – putting him on the shelf for some extra time.
R-Truth Required Second Surgery Due To Infection
During a recent livestream, R-Truth would reveal that he ended up needing two surgeries following his injury. He’d reveal the following when asked to give an update on his condition.
“Still healing up. Still healing up from my quad injuries. I’m going back to WWE. I just got to heal up. I had to have two surgeries. A lot of people don’t know that. I caught an infection so I had to have another surgery. So that set me back but, y’all know me, I’m coming back probably sooner than y’all think.”
Truth would also add that he was enjoying his time on the NXT brand, and intends to show up there again once he’s back in the ring.
Truth Isn’t Someone Who Gets Hurt Often
This is one of the first big injuries Truth suffered in his 25 year career, having wrestled a match each year since 1999. His comedy heavy style keeps him safe, but his movements in the ring would be good for someone in their 30’s, not someone who turned 50 in 2022. Truth is simply a legend in the industry of his longevity and quality of work.
He’s been out of action since November 11th, and with Truth saying he could be back earlier than fans expect? A Royal Rumble return is not entirely out of the question. We already know to expect one return during the Royal Rumble, as Cody Rhodes has announced his intentions to return to the ring during the match.
