When Apollo Crews & Carmelo Hayes met to kick off the first episode of NXT in 2023, it was a fantastic back and forth contest. However, the meddling of Trick Williams would put things in the favour of Hayes in the final moments. Axiom would rush to the ring to ensure Crews was safe from a two on one beating – and would make quick work of Williams. Tonight, Crews & Axiom will team up to take on Hayes & Williams in a tag team grudge match.
Axiom & Apollo Crews Look To Down Their Rivals
Axiom & Williams would kick this match up, with Williams getting wrist control – before Axiom would flip around to free himself and land a dropkick. Williams would be able to drop a running Axiom with two shoulder tackles, following up with a pop up punch to the jaw. Hayes would get the tag, only to be taken down with a springboard headscissor and run down with a dropkick.
Axiom would get the tag to Crews, who showed he can match the pace of Hayes before hitting a dropkick. Williams hit the ring to try to help, only to be dropped with a double arm drag. Hayes would hit a pump kick and La Mistica, getting a two count. Axiom would send Hayes to the floor after a German Suplex, before Crews would toss Axiom onto Hayes & Williams out on the floor.
Back in the ring, Axiom would be run down by a lariat from Williams, who got a two count after hitting a bodyslam. Hayes would keep the pressure on, only to end up in a front headlock from Crews in the middle of the ring after losing control of Axiom. Axiom would come off the top rope with a double axe handle to the arm of Hayes, before applying the front headlock himself.
Carmelo Hayes Gets Caught Out Of The Air
Hayes looked to break free with a suplex, only for Axiom to shift into a pinfall for a two count. Williams looked to save Hayes from a German Suplex, only to take two from Hayes before a pump kick to the face. Axiom would have a kick redirected to the face of Crews, before Hayes nailed a springboard lariat for a two count.
Williams would stomp Axiom in the corner before Hayes applied the rear chinlock. Axiom broke free, and Crews rocked Hayes with a lariat. Press slam would be followed by a standing moonsault, with Hayes able to kick out at two. Williams would take a Golden Ratio kick off the apron, as Hayes would be caught out of the sky by Crews and forced into a pinfall for the finish.
Hearing From Toxic Attraction
When the women of NXT entered the ring for a battle royale to earn a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship, no one expected to end up with two winners. However, after the match came down to Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne – they would somehow eliminate each other at the same time, both hitting the floor simultaneously. Both would be named the winner, and both get a chance to become NXT Women’s Championship in a Triple Threat match. Tonight, we hear from Dolin & Jayne – as we get their thoughts on last week’s events.
Dolin & Jayne don’t like to say “We told you so” but last week went exactly as planned, with both of them earning the title shot. They both tried to eliminate each other, but that doesn’t make them any less of a team. There is no animosity, anger, just two ladies ready to do whatever it takes.
At Vengeance Day, Roxanne Perez will regret becoming NXT Women’s Champion. Lyra Valkyria would come to ringside saying that the only reason she didn’t win was Cora Jade, but she’ll get her chance at Perez – as when she looks in the ring, she doesn’t see anyone who can become champion. Valkyria would be stomped out by Toxic Attraction, with Perez making the save.
