Many people, including myself, have the idea that AEW needs to stop signing new wrestlers and focus on their current roster. While this is true, sometimes, you can’t pass talent up and Impact Wrestling has a lot of talent. Here are three wrestlers from Impact Wrestling that AEW should keep an eye on.
Mickie James
Mickie is a veteran that can help the AEW women’s division a lot. There is a possibility that she doesn’t even get into the ring and that wouldn’t be a big deal.
Mickie came through a system that taught her safety above everything else, and AEW as a whole is known for being a little more stiff than other companies.
With this comes a lot of injuries that could be avoided. Mickie James as a trainer would be great and I think that she could also help some of the women look a little less robotic.
While she might be coming to the end of her run in the ring, I think that she still got a lot of gas left in the tank. I could see her having some great matches with a lot of the women on the roster.
Sami Callihan
Most of my picks for these wrestlers address a need for AEW and Sami Callihan is someone that fits this role.
AEW needs credible heels and wrestlers that have personality in general and Sami has both. I don’t think that Sami would be AEW World Champion at any point but if the company goes through another injury crisis, which is very likely, he is someone that I think they could put in the top of the card and it still functions.
Other than that, I think that Sami fits into the roster very well and could have great matches with a lot of people on the roster.
When they don’t need him in the main event, I could see him floating anywhere between the All-Atlantic and TNT title pictures.
Also, I think that he could start a new group or possibly do something like corrupt an existing group and become their leader like the Dark Order.
Tom Hannifan
Alright, alright, this is a cheat. Tom Hannifan is the former Tom Phillips from WWE. He actually isn’t a wrestler but he fills a glaring need for AEW.
The announcing on AEW Dark Elevation is absolutely terrible and I think that it is Matt Menard’s fault. Tom could come in and make the product as a whole much better.
I don’t think that Matt needs to leave the announce desk, but if you ever watch those shows, you can tell that the announce desk has two color commentators in the booth.
Many people didn’t like Tom’s work in WWE, but I think that most of those people just don’t like WWE. His work is solid, he has experience, and he knows what he is doing.
I think that Tom Hannifan and Paul Wright would be a great announce team. Matt could be included but it wouldn’t be needed.
There could also be a time that Tom becomes the lead announcer on Dynamite or Rampage. He is only 33 years old.
