Joe Rogan shared his excitement about Ciryl Gane being the new opponent of Jon Jones in a recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
The UFC commentator spoke with the welterweight contender Belal Muhammad and they were not holding back their excitement about the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Joe Rogan Praises Ciryl Gane For His Speed Despite Being 250 Pounder
During their lengthy conversation, the UFC personalities didn’t fail to carefully take into consideration all the details surrounding Ciryl Gane and his fighting style. They told their view on that how he will cope with Jon Jones and they predicted the way the fight might go down.
Joe Rogan, to the surprise of everyone, praised Ciryl Gane, despite being one of the greatest Jon Jones fans over the years. He told Belal Muhammad that he thinks the way Ciryl Gane delivers the punches is ‘strange’, but impressive. The podcaster also mentioned the great speed of Ciryl Gane, despite being a person weighing about 250 lbs.
“Ciryl Gane does a lot of s**t that’s very unusual. He stands totally sideways and does a twisting kick… Very weird… His movements, the fluidity of his combinations, and the guy moves like a middleweight and he’s 240+ pounds… He’s the most agile and probably the most technical of all the heavyweight strikers. Ciryl’s very well-rounded.” – Joe Rogan told his guest.
The couple then went on and broke down the performance of the heavyweight in his most recent fight against Tai Tuivasa. The fight took place a couple of months ago, in Paris. To say the least, Ciryl Gane destroyed Tai Tuivasa, scoring a KO and a referee stoppage in the third round.
Joe Rogan thought about one more variable that plays a major role when fighting against Jon Jones. His wrestling. According to Joe Rogan, one fact needs to be taken into consideration before the fight. Ciryl Gane got outwrestled by Francis Ngannou last year. And wrestling was not one of Francis Ngannous’ strong sides.
“Can Jon Jones take him down? How does Jone perform at heavyweight? Can Jon close the distance? Is he as fast? What is the three years off like? Is he hungrier and even better because he’s fired up? It’s also his first fight at heavyweight.” – Joe Rogan said. “We really don’t know how he’s going to respond when he receives a hit by a big heavyweight. We don’t know anything. Jon is older now — a lot of partying. Jon parties. I don’t know.”
