When it comes to legends in professional wrestling, there are few bigger names than Hulk Hogan. Throughout the 80’s, he was the face of wrestling in the United States – and would even make waves in other regions like Japan. Simply put, he was a larger than life hero, which is what the industry needed. In the 90’s, he would be wise to reinvent himself for a resurgence as the leader of the nWo – and the rest was just gravy. Having retired over a decade ago, Hogan will be staying that way – as his body is in rough shape these days.
Hulk Hogan Can’t Feel His Legs After Having Nerves Cut During Back Surgery
On the latest episode of The Kurt Angle show, Angle would talk about catching up with Hogan backstage at the recent 30th anniversary of Monday Night RAW. Namely, he would focus on the declining health of Hogan, and how a recent back surgery has had consequences, namely Hogan now not feeling his legs. Angle was quoted saying the following.
“I did speak to Hulk Hogan for a bit of time for about a half hour and I also spoke to Undertaker for about a half hour,” Angle said. “Those two guys are the two guys that I wanted to catch up with when I went there, so I was very happy to be able to do that.
Hogan had his back surgery again. He had the nerves cut from his lower body. He can’t feel his lower body, so he has to use his cane to walk around. I thought he was using the cane because he has pain in his back. He doesn’t have any pain. He has nothing at all. He can’t feel anything. So now he can’t feel his legs, so he has to walk with a cane. That’s pretty serious, man. I mean, I really feel for Hogan. He put his heart and soul into the business and it ate him up.”
This is a cautionary tale of sorts, that using any move that requires you to land on your back or rear end in a match, like the Leg Drop, RKO or Stunner? That is going to hurt in the long run, with Hogan’s case being the worst – especially knowing he threw a fantastic lariat which would have been the better finisher.
