The coronavirus has been a major pain the back for everyone, but it’s got to be extremely troublesome for Vince McMahon who once allegedly told Vince Russo (paraphrasing) “There is no being sick.”
The bain of McMahon’s existence
It wasn’t too long ago where McMahon’s main concern was how to shove a crappy storyline down our throats. Oh, how we booed and he laughed, and he laughed and we canceled subscriptions to WWE Network.
To the good old days.
Now, because of the coronavirus spreading faster than wildfire and everyone encouraged not to gather in groups, the WWE has had to scrap their plans and try something (gasp) creative.
So, WrestleMania 36 was split into two separate shows.
Okay, we can live with that.
Then it’s been reported they’re going to start recording WrestleMania this week at the WWE Performance Center.
Okay, they’ve been doing that with their televised shows, so that’s not a surprise.
But now they may be without their main event.
Wait, what?
Brock Lesnar may not take part
Okay, before the start going off on Lesnar being a part timer (while cheering Goldberg being a part timer. Yeah, I said it), it’s not because he doesn’t want to lose the title or wants more money or anything like that.
It’s because he’s a resident of Canada and may not be allowed to cross the border into the US despite his dual citizenship.
While it’s possible he could make it, it’s something that the current conditions probably won’t allow to happen. Canada is on lockdown, meaning only the essential businesses are open similar to the United States.
But reports have said Canada has closed their borders, and if so, that’ll make it nearly impossible for Lesnar or anyone else to cross over.
There’s always a slim chance, but it’s important we prepare for it not to happen.
The worst part about this is this really screws up Drew McIntyre’s WrestleMania moment.
McIntyre has busted his hump to get into this position, and to have this pulled away from him by something out of his or anyone’s control is heartbreaking.
Fans want a delay
The consensus among fans online is we would rather have WrestleMania delayed a month or two rather than have it held without fans or a full card.
It’s understandable that McMahon and the WWE want to continue to entertain us, and that’s important to applaud them for, but is it really for the best?
Not only do the fans miss out of going to a WrestleMania (many for the first time) but it messes up wrestlers like Drew McIntyre and others that were working toward their moment. Winning the championship at SummerSlam or, heaven forbid, on Raw after earning this chance is a slap in the face to him, to Shayna Baszler, and to any superstar that’s worked to get to this event.
