For many years in WWE, no one was able to match the physical dominance of Brock Lesnar. That was until the rise of The Almighty, Bobby Lashley. When Lesnar had initially left WWE in 2004, he was a hard man to replace – with Batista & later Lashley trying to fill his boots. However, lots has changed since then – and right now, Lashley could finally be on track to surpass Lesnar. He would make quick work of Lesnar in the 2023 Royal Rumble, and has managed to stay one step ahead this entire feud. Tonight is their third singles meeting, and with the record tied 1-1 – could be their most important battle to date.
Brock Lesnar Is Unable To Break The Hurt Lock Using Legal Tactics
Lesnar would quickly pick Lashley up and launch him with a Belly to Belly Suplex. Lashley was cornered with some shoulder tackles before being sent to the floor with a stiff lariat. Lesnar would be caught off guard as Lashley hit the ring with explosive speed and nailed a spear for the two count.
Lashley would hit a second spear, before looking to apply The Hurt Lock on Lesnar. Lesnar was able to block, hitting an F5 for a near fall. Lashley would be picked up for a second F5, but this was still not enough to keep him yet. Lesnar would look for a third, with Lashley slipping off his shoulders and hitting a third spear.
Hurt Lock would be applied in the middle of the ring, with Lesnar fighting hard to break the hold. A low blow would follow, ending this match in a DQ – with Lesnar taking the loss, unable to break the Hurt Lock. The referee would take an F5 from a frustrated Lesnar, before Lashley was dropped with one himself.
Lesnar took this to the floor, hitting a final F5 through the announce table before marching off with a satisfied smile on his face. This feud is far from over, and we can expect them to meet in a match with fewer rules at WrestleMania to figure out who the bigger badass truly is. After all, a low blow is no way to end a clash of heavyweights.
Judgement Day vs. The Grit Couple
Back at Extreme Rules 2022, Finn Balor & The Judgement Day thought they were finally done with the faction’s original leader, Edge. Taken down alongside his wife Beth Phoenix, Judgement Day wouldn’t see either until Royal Rumble 2023 when Edge would go right after Balor, Damian Priest & Dominik Mysterio when he returned to enter the match. Phoenix would be close behind to take down Rhea Ripley, and the stage was set for a massive mixed tag team match.
Balor & Edge would start this match, with Edge quick to start with some shoulder tackles. Edge would corner Balor for ten punches, before making the tag to Beth who hit a spear on Balor before Poetry in Motion. Ripley & Beth would finally lock up in the middle of the ring, the top powerhouses of separate eras of WWE. They would refuse to give up any ground as lariats were thrown, before a Test of Strength saw Ripley win out.
Riptide was blocked, with Beth sending Ripley to the floor with a lariat. Dominik Mysterio would run a a distraction, allowing Ripley to gain control. Edge would run Dominik out of the arena, as Beth was trapped upside down in the Tree of Woe, with Ripley hitting some quick stomps. They’d trade forearm smashes in the middle of the ring as Dominik would decide to return. Ripley tried to prevent a tag with a spinebuster, only for Beth to hit a DDT.
Balor would crawl under the ring to take Edge off the apron, hitting the Final Cut on the floor. Back in the ring, Beth would again narrowly avoid The Riptide, only for Ripley to look for an Avalanche GlamSlam – with Beth fighting free with a series of back elbow smashes. Superplex would follow, with Ripley crashing into the middle of the ring.
Judgement Day Get Shut Down By Edge
Edge would finally get the tag alongside Balor, hitting the Flapjack in the middle of the ring. Implant DDT was blocked with Balor looking for a quick double stomp. Edge would apply the Edgeucator in the middle of the ring, with Beth getting Ripley locked up moments later. Dominik would get on the apron and slid something into the ring.
Ripley would hit Edge with Brass Knuckles, but Beth was there to break the pinfall up. Beth was taken out on the floor, and was able to use Dominik to knock Balor’s balance off on the top rope – throwing him from the floor and into the ropes. Edge would look for a Avalanche Russian Leg Sweep, only for Beth & Ripley to hit double powerbombs before a double down with lariats.
On the floor, Ripley would look to use the steel steps and a chain for a Conchairto, but Beth was able to escape before hitting the Glam Slam on the floor. In the ring, Edge hit the Implant DDT before a Suicide Dive to Domimik. Spear was blocked by the Slingblade in the ring, but it only delayed the inevitable. Spear would land with the Shatter Machine from Edge & Beth getting the victory.
