ECW and WWE alumnus Stevie Richards recently posted an update to social media that has wrestling fans concerned for the 51-year-old and pulling for his recovery.
Former WWE and ECW Star Stevie Richards Posts Update of Himself with Walker as Back Problems Worsen
Stevie Richards is a veteran known for his physical conditioning and work ethic. It’s that same work ethic that has seen him put his body on the line since the early 1990s. The post to IG shows the former 21-time WWE Hardcore champion wearing a gown and being supported by a walker.
In the caption to the photo, Richards didn’t go into the issues he’s been having or what happened in the past month but said that he would detail everything soon. He’ll also document his recovery via YouTube and on IG. Richards’ caption read:
“The last 4 weeks, especially the last one, have really been something else. We aren’t quite at the finish line yet, but hopefully the road to recovery starts asap. I will be explaining what has happened and documenting my road to recovery on the YouTube channel as well as here.”
Many ECW Originals are dealing with some lingering issues from their careers. Tommy Dreamer is noted with having back problems which didn’t take him out of action totally but has seen him dial it back on the riskier stuff. It had gotten to where the final Chokeslam he would take in his career was documented in 2015.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Stevie Richards had been dealing with back and spine issues as well for sometime. It appears that those issues became worse in the last four weeks and possibly contributed to Richards’ hospital visit and current condition.
